The UKAEL brings together all those across the UK with an interest in European Union law.

Through lectures, seminars and other events it promotes a better understanding of EU law, encourages debate and discussion on current issues, and as the UK branch of FIDE, is part of an international network of European law associations.

Owing to the pandemic, the FIDE Congress in The Hague had to be postponed again, to 3-6 November 2021. The topics to be discussed are:

Topic 1: National Courts and the Enforcement of EU Law – the pivotal role of national courts in the EU legal order
Topic 2: Data Protection – setting global standards for the right to personal data protection
Topic 3: EU Competition Law and the Digital Economy – protecting free and fair competition in an age of technological revolution
